Patan Carpet Centre has been in production for the last 15 years in Nepal. It was established by Tibetans following the rising success of carpet enterprises started initially by Tibetans who fled Chinese aggression in Tibet and steeled in Nepal, bringing with them their knowledge of an age-old tradition of rug weaving.
We at Patan Carpet Centre have been weaving carpets for the International market ever since our inception, mainly for the high-end market. We use the traditional Tibetan method of Senna hand knotting, which is a distinctive hallmark of Tibetan carpets, distinguishing us form all other carpet, manufactures in the world. Our knotting ranges from 60 to 150 knots per sq. in. whereas our carpet pile is created according to the need of the customer. Our designs are very versatile ranging from the very traditional Tibetan, Chinese, or Persian to the very modern and trendy. Our colours are either pure vegetable dyes or high quality Fast Swiss dyes.
Needless to say, our carpets are all hand woven. For out woollen carpets the wool is fully hand spun. We use pure Himalayan highland wool imported directly from Tibet and virgin New Zealand wool from the highest quality to ensure the very best result. For out exclusive silk carpets we use pure silk imported from both China and India, therefore creating an exquisitely fine texture. For your modern, innovative carpets we use exciting new 100% natural materials like hemp and nettle fibre, which produce an entirely different effect from traditional materials.
